"Going through life without God is like being an astronaut tumbling out of control in outer space. You grab on to this, but it breaks, and you tumble some more. Every time you lose something that you tried to hold on to— your marriage, your job, your mom— you start tumbling even faster. So you’ve got to stay close. You can’t cut your umbilical cord. But you don’t have to go to church. God is everywhere. God is that blade of grass trying to come up through the concrete. So many people go to church, and leave church, not even realizing that they are the church. You just need to make a determination in your mind that you want to find and believe in the truth."
Anonymous asked: salaaam,i have been struggling with depression and anxiety and suicidal thoughts for a long time, will praying regularly help? because i have been neglecting my prayers and i dont feel well enough to pray
W.salaam, personal experience when I didn’t pray, I felt like I was the most depressed creature on Earth. Look at the people with lots of money and fame, some of them commit suicide, some of them take drugs to get that peace and content feeling. By Allah, Salah is the solution. What Allah says, it’s for our best. Trust in Allah.
“Hold on to your salah, because if you lose that, you will lose everything else.” — Umar ibn al Khattab (R.A)
If I say to you, start reading salah from tomorrow. You may not do it because it will be a shock for your body because you may not be used to it. So, take it easy. Pray 1 prayer, next day pray 2 etc.. till you are praying 5 times a day, you will be used to it. Once you are praying 5 times a day for 3-4 days in row, it’s so easy.
The ‘I don’t feel well enough to pray’ excuse won’t work, I used to think that lol when I couldn’t pray Salah properly standing up because of my injured foot. So I had to sit and pray. Imagine Umar ibn al Khattab (R.A), he got stabbed in his Salah, he fainted. He woke up, they gave him milk, what did he say? Pick me up to continue my salah. As soon as he start praying, milk start pouring out from his wounds. This is what motivates me, so the ‘i dont feel well enough to pray’ is a excuse from shaitaan. Don’t listen to him, Allah wants the best for you. May Allah make it easy for you, ameen.
Subhan’Allah, look how Allah honours the Shuhada, dying for His sake. I think two days ago I was on twitter and I was looking at the pictures of the Rafidha shias who were killed by the Mujahideen in Syria… Wallahi one of them looked like he died a pigs death, you can tell straight away what a disgusting death. However, the death of a Shaheed, they are smiling, they look as if they are sleeping beautifully! The shaheed is forgiven at the first drop of blood & he sees his place in Jannah at the time of leaving this world, which explains the smiles :)
"He who is attracted to you because you showed perhaps your legs or your shape - those legs are not going to look like that for the rest of your life, nor will you be able to maintain that shape forever. So therefore it is better for you to realise that he who is attracted to your heart, your goodness and your character is the one to whom no matter what you look like, he will love you and adore you and 60 years down the road would still tell you that you’re ‘the one’."
